Philanthropy

  •  Powderpuff Football

Each spring ZBT hosts its signature philanthropic event of the school year, Powderpuff Football. The event benefits the Rory David Deutsch Foundation to fight pediatric brain tumors. Ross Deutsch, ’83, of Highland Park, IL, was a Brother of RHO who lost his son, Rory, to a pediatric brain tumor at the age of seven.

    Alley-Oop for Autism

Each fall ZBT hosts its newest philanthropy event, Alley-Oops for Autism. The 2011 event was our fifth annual. The event was originally intended to feature a five on five basketball tournament, in which five coaches from the sororities will help a team of children from Friendship Circle compete in a basketball tournament. Over the years, the event has really grown to include more activites, more children, more sororities, and more brothers.

All proceeds will benefit the Stuart I Raskas Friendship Circle of Illinois to raise awareness for autism, and to increase programming for children with special needs.

The Friendship Circle of Illinois extends a helping hand to families who have children with special needs and involves them in a full range of social and Judaic experiences. The Friendship Circle's unique program introduces teenage volunteers to the children and their families, and through the shared experiences, all are enriched.

Alley-Oop for Autism was a success in 2010.  The event was hosted at Assembly Hall in Champaign.  Take a look at the pictures:

In 2011, Alley-Oop for Autism was held at the Activites and Recreation Center in Champaign.  We had several stations for the kids that attended including shirt-making, free throws, 3-on-3 basketball, and much more.
